THE NEW MEDIA FOUNDATION DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

The Media Development Committee oversees the creation process of all media projects, the process of how an idea or concept is developed into a treatment, screenplay, book or other media template. Specifically, it is the highest priority of the Committee to honor the integrity of the work's original meaning, message or teaching when developing a project.

Some of the questions we ask in the development process are:
1. How can we create entertainment through new and traditional media platforms: digital, mobile, IPTV, satellite, radio, film, television, that brings inspiration, insight and education?
2. Are there ways to use irony, humor, juxtaposition, layering, sound, editing, etc. to create experiential programs that give the viewer a sense of a greater purpose and meaning in life?
3. What examples in history and current events can we borrow from to show positive, life affirming stories that we want to watch over and over again?

The development process involves the following elements: premise, theme, plot, story beats, subplots, tone, genre, structure, characters, dialogue, visual elements, title/market. Once a project is developed by the Committee, the Committee coordinates with the project's production team to implement the core vision of the project throughout the production process - principle photography, post-production, marketing and distribution, etc.

CONSULTING
Another function of Media Development is to provide tools to writers, directors and producers to integrate innovative forms of storytelling into character and plot.
